Jake brings years of music therapy experience to UpBeat, including rehabilitation settings, hospice, DD, and Alzheimer's. Jake holds a Bachelor of Music from Knox College in Illinois and a Bachelor of Music Therapy from Marylhurst University in Oregon. Jake has additional training in Neurologic Music Therapy and Hospice and Palliative Care Music Therapy. Jake is an accomplished guitarist with over 20 years' experience, and is an improvisational musician and songwriter. His family includes wife Brooke (a Naturopathic Doctor) and 3 children.
Dan has been a subcontractor for UpBeat for over 4 years and his clients love his calm, accepting demeanor, inviting presence, strong clinical skills and top-notch guitar work. Dan, a native Southern Californian, is a jazz guitarist and drummer with experience in recording arts studies. He's a Marylhurst graduate with a Bachelor of Music Therapy degree.

Brea is an adjunct music therapy faculty member at Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR. She recently completed her Master of Music Therapy degree from University of Miami where she served as academic supervisor and research assistant. Her clinical experiences include dementia care, neurorehabilitation, medical settings and behavioral health. Brea is especially interested in bridging the clinical field of music therapy with the science of music cogntition.
Erin has been an MT-BC for over a decade, relocating to Portland from California in 2016. She is a vocalist who also plays flute, guitar, piano and drums. Erin is warm, compassionate, intuitive and enjoys utilizing her clinical skills to help clients achieve their goals and improve their quality of life. Erin and her husband are also gigging musicians.
Lisa has been a board-certified music therapist since 1992. She has worked in a variety of settings with older adults from Texas to New York, Europe to South America and all the way here to Washington! Lisa uses piano, guitar or accordion to facilitate group music making. Her sessions are inviting and joyful as she encourages older adults to sing, play instruments, dance or just listen.
Steven received his Music Therapy degree from Marylhurst University in Oregon, and his Music Business degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Steven is a life-long musician and has been directing adult and children's choirs since 2011. He believes strongly in the healing power of music and its ability to build and strengthen communities.
Blair holds a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy/Counseling from Southwestern College in Santa Fe, NM. Blair is passionate about using the power of creativity to connect with her clients. She enjoys giving individuals the opportunity to express themselves in new ways. Blair’s groups are always dynamic and take into account the needs of each individual.
